Grillz Fitment & Adjustment Guide

Grillz Fitment & Adjustment Guide

What to Do If Your Custom Grillz Don’t Fit Perfectly

🧠 Why Your Grillz Might Not Fit Straight Away

If your grillz feel a little off fresh out of the box, don’t stress - minor fit issues are normal.

There are a few reasons this can happen:

  • Your teeth may have shifted slightly since your impression was taken.
  • The mold might not have captured every contour perfectly.
  • Metals like silver and gold can slightly expand or contract with temperature during shipping or storage.

This guide will show you what a proper fit feels like, how to make gentle at-home adjustments if needed, and when to reach out.

🔹 How Grillz Should Fit

  • Grillz should sit snugly over your teeth without pinching or discomfort.
  • Some slight pressure at first is normal - your teeth may need time to get used to the feel.
  • They should not move or fall out when you speak or smile.
  • You should never need to “force” them in or feel pain when wearing.

🦷 Dental Work, Veneers & Fit Considerations

Grillz are worn over your natural teeth and any existing dental work. If you have veneers, crowns, bonding, implants, retainers, or other restorations, it’s important to understand how this can affect fit and wear.

Dental work — especially veneers or bonded teeth — can be more sensitive to pressure. While your grillz are designed to fit as accurately as possible based on your impressions, wearing grillz may increase the risk of loosening or damage to existing dental work.

If you have veneers or other restorations, we strongly recommend consulting your dentist before ordering or wearing grillz to ensure they’re suitable for you.

Please note: Grillz are cosmetic jewellery items and are not medical or dental devices.

🧼 Before You Try Them On

  • Wash your hands, teeth, and grillz thoroughly before first use.
  • Make sure everything is fully dry before fitting.
  • Gently slide the grillz onto your teeth - they should slot into place naturally.
  • If they feel secure but not too tight, that’s perfect.
  • If you’ve only ordered a single tooth grill or have noticeable gaps, a tiny dab of denture adhesive (e.g. Poligrip) can help secure the fit - but this is rarely needed for sets with two or more teeth.

🛠️ Adjusting Your Grillz at Home

Most of the time, if your grillz feel slightly too loose or not as snug as you'd like, a gentle squeeze using your fingers is all that’s needed.

🧤 Here’s How:

  • Hold the grillz by the ends (as shown in the image above).
  • Gently squeeze the tops of the grillz inward just a tiny amount.
  • Try them on - repeat as needed.
  • Don’t overdo it — small changes make a big difference.
  • For larger sets (6+ teeth), you can apply this same method just to the end teeth on each side.

⚠️ Avoid using pliers unless you know what you're doing. Most adjustments should be done gently by hand.

If they’re uncomfortably tight, stop. Grillz should never hurt or feel forced - message us if you’re unsure.

⚠️ Grillz with Stones

If your grillz include diamonds, moissanite, enamel, or other custom details - do not attempt to adjust them yourself.

We always check the fit on a plain version before setting stones for this reason. If your final grillz have stones and still feel off, get in touch - we’ll walk you through what to do next.

🛑 A Note on DIY Adjustments

While small adjustments can help, they should be done carefully.

  • Work slowly and check the fit as you go.
  • Stop if you’re unsure or if there’s resistance.
  • Do not bend aggressively — it can crack plating or warp the frame.

Please note: Drip Daddy is not responsible for any damage caused by self-adjustments, improper use, or damage to existing dental work (including veneers, crowns, or bonding).

🧼 Care Tips After Fitment

  • Rinse gently with cool water after each wear
  • Wipe clean with a soft cloth
  • Avoid hot water or harsh chemicals
  • Store on dental model safely in a jewellery case or pouch

✅ Final Thoughts

Your grillz are built to last - and a perfect fit might just take a few minor tweaks. If they feel a little loose, a gentle squeeze can often fix it. If they feel tight, don’t force them. And if your grillz include stones or feel significantly off, we’re here to help.

Stay clean, store them safely, and flex with confidence.
