Impression Guide

Before starting, we recommend watching the videos below to familiarise yourself with the impression process. Once you've watched them, follow the guide below step by step.

Allow around 30 minutes to complete the entire impression process.

Before You Start

Your kit includes one upper tray and one lower tray. Some orders may also include additional trays where required. Please make sure the correct tray is used when taking each impression.

Take your time and follow each step carefully. A few extra minutes now will help ensure the best possible fit for your grillz.

Taking Your Impressions

  • Brush your teeth and wash your hands before starting
  • Mix one blue and one white putty together quickly until fully consistent (no marbling) — it begins setting fast
  • Press evenly into the tray and insert within 1 minute
  • Press the tray firmly onto your teeth, then pull your lip over the front of the tray so the full gumline is captured.
  • Hold the tray completely still for 3 minutes. Avoid talking or moving during this time.

Applying the Light Body Material

The light body material captures the fine detail needed for the most accurate fit.

  • Apply the material into the impression areas for the teeth your grillz will cover
  • Reinsert the same tray and bite gently in the same position
  • Hold for 4 minutes

This step captures fine detail for a more precise fit.

What We Need to See

✅ Full gumline visible
✅ No tray showing through
✅ No distortion or shallow areas

Avoid This

🚫 Moving while setting
🚫 Not pulling your lip over the tray
🚫 Uneven pressure causing drag marks
🚫 Shallow impressions

Returning Your Impressions

Submit clear photos of both your teeth and impressions here for approval:

For teeth photos:
✅ Front and side angles are recommended
✅ Teeth should be slightly apart
✅ Full tooth shape and gumline should be visible
✅ Good lighting is recommended

Submit Photos

Wait for approval before sending anything back.

Please wait for approval before posting your impressions. If new impressions are required, sending them too early may delay production.

Packaging & Returning Your Impressions

  • Rinse each impression under cool running water to remove any residue (no hot water or scrubbing)
  • Allow impressions to dry naturally at room temperature — no heat or hair dryers
  • Place each impression in its own ziplock bag
  • Place the ziplock bags into the padded return bag provided, then seal the padded bag before placing it into the prepaid return satchel
  • Include the dental lab form provided in your kit — no action needed, just pack it with your impressions
  • Use the prepaid satchel provided
  • Drop at a yellow Australia Post box or post office
  • Do not use red post boxes

Once we receive your approved impressions, production of your custom grillz will begin.

Replacement Impression Kits are available for $60 if required.
